The main reason
why there was ever any difference between men and women was because both were
perceived and socialised to play distinctive roles in society - the latter in a more meaningful relational and intimacy-intensive, caring and compassionate sense.
The quest for equality between men and women was actually a quest to be accepted as men by men as opposed to being accepted as women by men. In that sense mate, the 'feminist' movement was more of a masculine one. If it was the quest to be accepted as women by men that fuelled the 'feminist' movement, then the movement toward equality would have been heralded by a call for men to become more like women. What actually happened was assimilation to men took place first, and then these pseudo-woman(who were more like men then) began to call for men to become more feminine. That is not unlike a masculine women asking men to be more feminine. So, with the descent of women to the abyss of masculinity in the socio-economic realm, becoming more like men in less socially-approved arenas becomes a viable option as much as being a self-serving CEO in an MNC.
